Caregiver Word of the Day

Welcome to Day One of Caregiver School. Every morning you will receive a link to a video that will help you understand and cope with the emotional stress of caregiving. Some of the videos are animated and instructional. Some are excerpts from live presentations and they are more like a scene from a one-woman play.

Today’s video is “Meet Madelyn”. It’s almost eight minutes in length. I hope you’ll find the time to fix a cup of coffee and join me as I “become” my mother and talk about how maintaining a “detached” attitude is the key to surviving the stress of caregiving.

If you can’t find the time to watch, the take-away message is that an “Attitude of Creative Indifference” can help you avoid becoming emotionally ravaged by the disease or the progression of events.

Please share this with any caregiver you know who may feel like he/she is on this journey alone, and could use a little encouragement and support to get through a tough day or a sleepless night.
