Letters from Madelyn – Chapter 1
Life Falls Apart
My New Year’s gift to you, and also to my husband, is a daily episode from the audio version of my book, “Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver”. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that Alex had back surgery last summer. We went through a very difficult time. He is now pain free, but he really needs to work on regaining his strength and stamina.
We are spending the next two weeks in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I have promised him uninterrupted play time, and he has promised me that he will exercise vigorously every day. So while we’re on vacation, instead of writing a new blog every morning, I’ll be sharing recordings of “Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver”. The book is a compilation of the letters my mother wrote to me during the six-and-a-half years she cared for my dad following his debilitating stroke. People often tell me that Madelyn gives them permission to be human. Perhaps it’s because she is totally honest and never sugar coats anything!
I promise you will laugh more than you cry.
